What do we think of the single CC, not just for Maltese but for any breed? Can anyone guess at what it’s meant to achieve apart from reducing the rewards on offer and are we still happy to pay the same entry fee for this reduced reward?

Is there really any point in competing at a show for reduced rewards? What do you think?
The CC allocation for 2013 has been published and we have 2 more shows added where a single CC is on offer. Overall it means one extra set of CC’s – BUT – is this really what the breed needs, would we prefer the extra set to be competed for at just one show or are we happy to have four shows in 2013 which have just the one CC for Best of Breed?
Your thoughts please.
There certainly seems to be some progress on this front – the Kennel Club have agreed to phase out the single CC although how this will affect Maltese is as yet unclear. It will not start happening until after 2013 as that allocation is already made – in 2012 and 2013 the breed has four shows in each year with single CC status. If the KC decide to remove those four shows completely then the overall allocation for Maltese wil reduce by 1 show. However, if the KC decide to combine the 4 into 2 full sets the breed will benefit from an overall increase in allocation.
